As a Kick-off to the New Year, we are going to be sitting in the Psalms for 9 weeks. We plan to return to the Psalms later in the year and even plan to end the year out in the Psalms. In efforts to keep in step with our goal this year to focus on the theme of Holiness, we are going to examine the different Psalms written in the Bible. The Psalms are filled with real raw emotions and feelings toward God and His creation. They aren’t just random words and phrases, but songs, prayers, poems; written about the attributes of God and His Creation. There are psalms of Joy and happiness; psalms of lament and sadness; psalms of questioning God and psalms of God answering. There are psalms deep in the thick of darkness and rich in the beauty of His light. Throughout this series, we will slow down, as we process our emotions and look to God’s word written to us in the Psalms. Throughout our series we will be working through an exercise of meditation throughout our Missional Communities. It is amazing to be able to walk through a text that simultaneously displays the Great Grandeur of our God, and at the same time reminds us of His Gentleness and Compassion for His people. Who is like our God?
